ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
AJJ's approach to environmental sustainability is still evolving, and we're upfront about that. Rather than making sweeping claims we can't back up, we're focused on building a realistic, honest strategy that improves over time as our operations grow across Nigeria, United States, Estonia, South Africa, and United Kingdom.
Running an investment firm across five countries comes with a certain kind of responsibility that goes beyond the portfolios we manage. It also means paying attention to how our own operations affect the environment, not just how we advise clients on sustainability-related trends in the market.
AJJ operates across the United Kingdom, United States, Estonia, South Africa, and Nigeria, providing investment and advisory services across private equity, real estate, commodities trading, asset management, and multi-asset investing. As an investment firm, our long-term success depends entirely on our people and how we manage our workforce.
Our current focus areas center on reducing our footprint where we have the most direct control: our offices, our technology infrastructure, and the day-to-day choices that come with running a global operation.
Creating a More Sustainable Operation
Reducing Emissions From Our Facilities
Each office we operate, across every region, uses energy, and that adds up when you're spread across five countries instead of one. We're working to identify practical areas to make our facilities more energy-efficient, from something as basic as how we manage electricity use in our offices to longer-term decisions about how and where we lease and build out new locations as we grow. This isn't about massive, overnight change; it's about making steady, sensible improvements as we scale, so that growth doesn't automatically mean a bigger environmental footprint.

Addressing Travel-related Emissions
Operating across five countries naturally means our team travels, whether that's for client meetings, regional oversight, or connecting strategy across offices. We recognize that business travel is one of the more significant contributors to our operational footprint, and we're looking at ways to be more intentional about when and how travel happens, favoring virtual coordination where it makes sense and being more deliberate about necessary trips.
Encouraging responsible practices among our partners
We don't operate in a vacuum. The vendors, service providers, and partners we work with represent a flow of activity that impacts our overall footprint. As we develop our sustainability approach further, part of that includes having honest conversations with key suppliers about their own practices and encouraging more sustainable choices where it's within their control.

Where we're headed
We want to be clear that AJJ's environmental sustainability strategy is a work in progress, and we think that's a more honest place to start from than pretending we're already got it all figured out. As we continue expanding across our current markets and potentially into new ones, we're committed to setting realistic, measurable goals and sharing updates on our progress along the way.
If you're a client or partner with ideas about our environmental approach, or want to share how you think we can do better, we're genuinely open to that conversation.
